Burton Ave. United Church is a very warm, relaxed, inviting and friendly congregation, with many different gifts to offer. Explore the website to see what aspects of our church may interest you! This page will get you started by answering some FAQ's about our church.
What should i expect on sunday morning?
Worship begins at 10:00 am. Some people dress up, while others have a much more casual look, however, the best choice is to wear what is comfortable for you. The service usually lasts about an hour, and is followed by fellowship in the downstairs hall (usually with coffee, tea, juice, cookies and joy!) What about programs for children & youth on Sunday Morning?
The nursery room is on the lower level, where infants under 4 years of age are welcome to stay with our caregivers for the entirety of the service. You are also welcome to attend the service with your whole family, and if the little ones need extra comfort, or space to move, there is a lounge just beside the sanctuary where you are welcome to move to as needed. You can still hear the service and your little one can dance, if necessary! For those children from JK to grade 6, the Rainbow Club is a great place to go just after the children's story time in the service. Lastly, there is a creative and fun program downstairs for those youth from grade 6 to 12. Youth are welcome to leave the sanctuary when the younger children go to the Rainbow Club. Our church has a good sized parking lot just to the North of the church with the entrance off of Burton Avenue. Alternatively, if you are able, there is a parking lot available off Cumberland Street directly behind the Unity School. There are a few steps up from this lot into our parking lot. If you are able to park there on Sunday mornings and during events it would leave spots closer for those who are unable to walk very far. This is especially important as we get more snow in the lot. The parking lot entrance to the church, gets you to the elevator or the stairs leading up one flight to the foyer. There are coat racks and an entrance that takes you in through the front of the sanctuary. Alternately, you can use the entrance up the stairs on Burton Ave. This entrance leads you into the back of the sanctuary.
